I just wanted to know?
Are most vegans and vegetarians wholly opposed to eating meat, or would they be ok with eating meat that was hunted in an eco-friendly and responsible way?
It seems like an obvious question, that yes of course vegans and vegetarians wouldn't approve, but the reason I ask is that some vegan/vegetarian food, like the simulated meats and soforth, actually has a greater climatologial impact. Between the packaging and the transportation, I think it's a lot more earth-friendly to eat what I grow in my garden and shoot near my home.
Of course I respect your views, I'm not trying to say that you're wrong or that I'm right. I'm just asking, what do those of you that are vegan or vegetarian think?
Thank you for your answers.

The point I'm making is that I don't buy most of my stuff at the store, and that plastics and styrofoams aren't often recyclable. And not many folks recycle the stuff that is.
And it is kind of obnoxious to say how would I like it if an animal chewed on me. A responsible hunter kills an animal with very little if any pain at all, and only takes one animal (I'm talking about large game, like deer). And there are too many deer anyway.

Vegans do not eat or use anything that came from an animal. Period.
Vegetarians do not eat meat in general, but will wear clothing from animals and eat cheese and drink milk.
As far as packaging goes, paper cartons are recyclable. Uneaten food makes good compost. And everything you buy at a store is transported on a truck, so whatever.
To the noobs who are complaining about how it is cruel to kill an animal, Humans are omnivours and were designed to eat both meat and plant, there is nothing wrong with eating meat. Not to mention the fact that humans have been eating meat for as long as we have been on this planet. To go against human nature is absurd.

Meat is great, and damn you all who try to take it away from me!
the point isn't how they're killed. it's that they're killed. and they shouldn't be. how would you feel if some cow came up to you and started eating you? i know that's kind of rediculous, but come on. that's exactly what people do to them.
im a vegitarian and dont eat meat at all. i dont wear animal fur//products and i dont approve of hunting or anything like that. i could never murder an animal.and doesnt it disgust you to sit down and eat saying i killed this animal this morning!
i wouldnt be ok with eating meat in an eco friendly way. im a vegetarian, and since becoming a vegetarian, i have eaten less packaged food and more fresh fruit and veggies from my garden and stuff
It's better to shoot something that has lived out in the wide world and has felt the sun on it's back than to cage something and eat it after it has suffered it's whole life. That being said, I have the luxury of choosing not to eat meat at all. Even if you shoot something near your home, it's not really a sustainable model unless you have huge acreage or eat prolific rabbits. Cows and other large mammals are bad plant to meat converters.
killing is killing. I don't think the animal is happy either way.
I agree with you because I avoid meat for eco/political/health reasons that wouldn't be an issue if I hunted or raised on my own.
And vegan convience food is just about as eco-unfriendly as regular convenience foods.
