Do you believe factory farming will be outlawed one day?!

Question:

Do you believe factory farming will be outlawed one day?

As we all know, factory farming has the most horrific conditions that anyone could ever care to imagine. Did you know that some factory farms require a gas mask to be worn by workers and not because of any regulations, but because the stench of animal feces is so intense that a human would die within minutes of exposure to the fumes. Yet the animals are expected to breath that air everyday. This is just one of the many atrocities that are going on right now as I type this message.

Does anyone believe that it will ever end? If so, then what will need to be done to end it?

Answers:
It will only end when us humans stop buying food produced in this way. A start has been made with people realising that Organic products are less harm full than those which are saturated with fertilisers. In the not to distant future, I believe the same kind of realisation will change the way we treat factory farm animals.

Eh, it'll end when a more efficient means of farming is introduced...but not before.

We all want cheap food and so it will continue.

I wish but until supermarkets stop selling the meat then no.It must be worse since they have all introduced their economy ranges, who would buy that, doesn't bare thinking about why it is so cheap.

Unfortunately it will probably become more popluar, but with stricter laws, as the human popluation grows.

i doubt it, it's $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ but we can vote with our dollars by buying local &/or organic

In a perfect world it would end, but it should be lawed as inhumane, these are not natural conditions for any animal to live in, but as long as people keep buying these products, it will continue, unless everyone starts to protest!!

Supply and demand --people want cheap food and to hell with the consequences. It will stay this way until the consumers dictate otherwise.I urge everyone to purchase organically reared products. So they may be dearer--- just eat less of them --they taste better so you don't need as much.I too hope this madness ends soon.My mother and her mother never starved and there were no factory farms then and we will not starve either.

Hopefully the sooner the better

no, i don't believe it will end for 2 reasons: some humans are lazy & tight with money.
i'll explain- keeping animals all in one place, ie farm makes it easier to control and because many humans are 'looking for a bargain' when it comes to grocery purchases, suppliers are constantly trying to find cheaper sources. sad but true:-(

Nothing will get done about this form of Farming unless more people buy Free range Products which I do as much as I can, Unfortunately Greed is the reason farming has turned into such a disgraceful practise, but how else do you feed the growing masses who choose to eat meat.

I agree with you on this one and more should be done but as always it's up to the consumer as with most things so unless a form of law is intro ducted to change this practise it will always happen.

Take fruit and Veg for example this is also factory farmed and speed grown and by doing this you have to eat 3 tomatoes to get the same value of goodness as one grown 20 years ago and this is a fact.

And again it's greed that's the real cause of most problems

Firstly thank you for mentioning the gas masks, I wasn't aware of that, but after reading this question found this link which supports my view where the bird flu came from in Bernard Matthews farm: The gas masks are not due to faeces, and that wouldn't kill humans.

In answer to your question, I hope so. Many meat eaters dislike the conditions animals are kept in, the organic trade is shifting opinion to some extent, but the factory farming methods which actually break the law regarding animal welfare, are still being supported by our governments, and to some extent by the European paliament. They will need to apply animal welfare law to be effective in factory farms.

But I hope so.

I agree with you - factory farming of animals is just plain morally reprehensible in a civilized society. Yes, it should be outlawed but big business endures social standards of morality. If more people were confronted visually (go google, people) with what poor pigs, chickens and other animals endure in factory farms then if they had any sense of morality they'd be compelled to switch to either vegetarianism or at least organic, free range or halal options even if it costs more.

We spend so much money on things we don't really need so why can't we spend more money on products that don't cause needless cruelty??? Any person who decides to save a few dollars by buying caged-hen eggs over open/free range eggs has a few screws loose in the humanity department and needs a good smack on the head.

No to much cash involved

Never in a meat Eating society. I believe in the far distant future there will be Vegetarian/Vegan societies segregated by choice away from Meat Eating societies. I bet the vegetarian/vegan societies will outlive the meat eating societies. The meat eaters will die out! Result everyone left will be Vegetarian or Vegan and the society will be much kinder. Then we will basicly be in heaven
on earth! Great when that time comes around for us Vegetarians and Vegans.. It won't happen now as it's too much a money oriented world and most people care for money first and health afterwards!

I certainly hope so, as an ex lorry driver I used to deliver animal foods to farms, and have seen first hand the conditions some animals have to live in.

I certainly hope so but too many people are making an awful lot of money at making people think they have to eat meat.
