Is my bread vegan?!

Question:

Is my bread vegan?

ingredients:
whole wheat flour
wheat gluten
corn syrup
soybean oil
yeast
molasses salt
enzyme soy flour
and the rest are pretty much perservatives.

Answers:
Most breads you find in regular grocery stores aren't vegan. You didnt list the preservatives. Does it have a conditioner? Thats what will usually cause it not to be vegan. Check this list for your ingredients to be sure:

sounds like it to me.

yes

How many more soybeans must die to feed you people. It's a shame.

Yes, it's vegan there is nothing that comes from animals. Although with a lot of perservatives it's not all that healthy.

excuse me....can i take this same recipe..add some extra
water..^(hopefullythatsvegan).... and make sour mash?

It depends on what the preservatives are-many, if not most are derived from animal sources. Things labeled "natural" flavor are usually animal derived as well. You would just have to google the other ingredients to be sure. The word "enzyme: is certainly questionable, as most enzymes are animal derived as well. Any "enriched" product would have animal derived vitamins added to them, such as cereal, flour, rice, etc. Unless your bread is clearly marked as being vegan, then it likely isnt.

What katie and beebs said....the dough conditioners are most likely animal derived or have a chance to be which = never ok to chance w/o knowledge of what they are.

Datem, calcium perservatives, sodium stearoyl 2 lactylate, calcium stearoyl lactate, mono and diglycerides and others.

This goes for any baked good..tortillas too.
