Vegetarians who eat fish... this one's for you!?
Since when is it okay for vegetarians to eat fish... Fish are alive too, they have organs, nerves, blood, brains, muscle and bones just like we and all other animals have, how can you call yourself a "vegetarian" when you still eat fish?... It seems like you're cheating the whole vegetarian life-style... why is fish the common exception? Is it because they don't have legs.... (just kidding)... but seriously, I'm pretty confused with this because as a vegetarian you are saying you don't want to KILL to live and sustain, but you are killing fish.
Answers:
A pescetarian is the one that eats fish but everything else they eat is vegetarian. Most people don't know that so they call themselves vegetarian.
Vegetarians who eat fish just want the wonderful, juiced in goodness that can only come from killing an animal.
People have different reasons for becoming a vegetarian, and not all people who are primarily vegetarian are perfect at it. Some folks call themselves vegetarian, but really only avoid eating mammals. Of course, it's not perfectly accurate to say you're a vegetarian if you eat any meat from any living animal.
I do think it's important that we all pay more attention to what is in our own food bowl than worry about what someone else puts in theirs.
amen! fish eating veggies are posers!
Most of us dont use labels to describe our eating habits. I dont call myself a Vegetarian eventhough i do not consume meat.
Why are you people on this site so hung up on your judgement of people based on what they eat.
"I'm pretty confused with this because as a vegetarian you are saying you don't want to KILL to live and sustain"
There's your problem. Who are you to say what other people's motivations are for being whatever kind of vegetarian they are? What we consume is our own personal choice and no one has to live up to anyone else's set of rules. The label exists as an easy way to let people know about dietary restritions and to help others who have similar lifestyles. Not everyone ha to fit into someone else's little box. I dont' eat fish because it's gross - I never have, not even when I was a meat eater. But I could definitely understand the arguement that fish and shrimp and the like are a lower life form and a plentiful source of food for some people. It's not my belief, but I can understand it.
You go Girl!
OK... So here goes! I am a Vegan!!! That eats fish!!! Now is that an accurate statement... Yes and No. I am obviously not a Vegan, both morally, and in practice. However, this does accurately describe my diet.
What I eat:
I eat only fruits, vegetables, rice, and fish (fish are nutritionally dense... sorry fishies your toast).
I eat nuts and legumes (YUMMY)
What I do not eat:
I eat no dairy of any kind (see my rant below)
I eat no grains like wheat and bran (You are not a bird and have no gizzard to process these grains)
I eat no birds or mammals (chicken is not nutritionally dense food and should be avoided)
I eat nothing fried (frying changes the molecular structure of oils, instead I Steam stuff then add olive oil after cooking!)
I hope this helps! I eat to live... I don't live to eat! Oh yeah I love leather shoes! (Can't help it!)
Dont forget to read the dairy rant below. The TV is lieing to you. Milk Kills! Even Yogurt. If you are not an infant... Dont ingest this crap! besides there is a bunch of blood and puss in cows milk anyway... gross!!!!!!
MY DAIRY RANT READ THIS!!!
I eat no dairy at all in any form!!! ((Dairy is the Devil and is more harmful to your body than meat). Human beings are the only Mammals that have genetically mutated to have a tolerance to lactosse and lactoalbumin. Go to http://www.notmilk.com/ for details. Dairy will KILL you! I grew up in a heavy dairy culture (Cuban) and all my family has gotten diabetes at some point in their life. Since I have quit dairy - that includes cheese, milk, non-dairy creamers (actually have some dairy too), and even bread (because lactosse is a filler in alot of breads))
Well, your question is flawed, since there are no vegetarians who eat fish.
There are omnivores who eat no meat but eat dairy and eggs; omnivores eat food from plant and animal matter. However, the term "vegetarian" nowadays, unfortunately, refers to people who are omnivorous, eating eggs and dairy and sometimes fish. It is unfortunate that the terms have been watered down, but they are just that - terms. As long as you know who you are and are informed in your choices and the harm they may cause, you should be happy with yourself. :)
THANK YOU
I totally agree!!
If the definition doesn't fit, then the person in question is not a vegetarian, right?
I have not eaten land animal meat in 15 years, but I will, on occasion, have fish at a restaurant. Am I a traitor to the cause? Maybe so, according to someone Else's definition.
To what degree, then, do we have these rules that bind us to a belief? I don't think everyone has the same reason for becoming a vegetarian as you may think. For some, it is the 'no kill' ideal, a health choice, or the notion of how much land is used for cattle that could be used for grains.
Should we get into the questions of who eats animal products--eggs, milk, cheese, etc. Are these people cheaters?
And what about those horrible people who buy leather? Honey? The shame!
How much of a fanatic would I need to be to acceptable as a "vegetarian"?
Vegetarians do not eat fish,a person who eats fish is a piscivore.
i personally think animal rights groups are dumb and i could not care less about eating the animals. God put them here for us to eat! I like to stay fit by avoiding meat...but fish has omega 3 in it and it is very healthy and light! Also....pescevegetarian, pescovegetarian, pescetarian, and piscetarian are the correct names for someone eating fish but no meat, and they ARE in fact sub categories of vegetarian....................
