Does one get enough minerals in multi-vitamin supplements?!
Does one get enough minerals in multi-vitamin supplements?
or do some folks out there take a seperate mineral combo supplement later in the day in addition?
and have u felt a difference?
Answers:
No, multi-vitamins usually can't contain all your mineral needs for one day. The reason for this is that minerals are bulky, if all the minerals you need were in your pill, it would be way too big to swallow!
I do take mineral supplements with my mega-vitamin. I am becoming convinced that minerals are the key to good health, at least for me. It's very hard to get enough minerals from your food, just as with the vitamins, you'd have to eat so much to get the required amount.
I take several mineral supplements every day: magnesium, potassium, boron, calcium, chromium and selenium. I also take some herbal supplements that have really helped me.
I'm convinced they make a big difference. I recently had a heart attack, and the angiogram afterwards showed absolutely no damage to the heart muscle. I will never know for sure, but I really think the minerals are what helped my heart not be affected by the heart attack. (Based on what I read about how each mineral works in the body chemistry.)
Vitamin supplements are just that...supplements. They are not meant to replace nutrients found in foods.
In addition to eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, I take GNC's Women's Ultra Mega Active vitamins.
No. But I get what I believe an excellent amount of minerals from my meal replacement that I drink. It is packed with minerals, protein, fiber and antioxidants. Its called Rice 'n Shine. You can find it on my website for the company I work for at www.itvventures.com/twalker. I drink this and also take their multi vitamin. All their products are all natural. There is also an infomercial about the product on the site.
