Wheat or no wheat?!
Wheat or no wheat?
I have some friends that choose not to eat wheat. What are the reasons that a person would choose not to eat wheat?

I know she isn't allergic. She decided not to eat wheat and now no one in her family does. I wish I could ask her myself, but they moved and I don't have her contact info. I was just curious, because I've heard other people say they are concerned about wheat like maybe it is bad to eat it or something.

Your friends may object to the bleaching process used on wheat and feel that there are too many chemicals present. Some white / processed flours have very little nutritional content, as most of the bran fiber has been removed.
I have friends who do not eat wheat products because they contain gluten. Some people are allergic to gluten.
wheat has a different texture which i don not like with certain foods. some things i substitute wheat others i prefer not to
I have the allergy to gluten, and my health has improved greatly since I stopped eating wheat. I have also lost 25 pounds in 5 months without any other change in diet.
Otherwise I am ovo-lacto-vegetarian.
Gluten, chemicals possibly, allergies..etc.
They probably are allergic to gluten, which is a part of the wheat kernel. Gluten can really cause trouble for sufferers of ulcerative colitis, and there is some evidence to suggest that it aggravates autistic children.
Some people have an autoimmune disorder called Celiac Disease that makes them unable to tolerate wheat.
See link below

Many people (1 in 133) have Celiac Disease, an inability to process gluten, a protein in wheat, rye and barley. So we don't eat foods containing it bc it hurts our bodies and can eventually be fatal if left untreated. Many others have wheat allergies or intolerances.
Even still, some people choose to cut out wheat to limit carbs. I think if you dont have a medical reason to do so such as an intolerance or allergy, cutting out all wheat is not necessary. Instead, eating healthy whole wheat carbs is good.
Just my info!
