Shouldn't we all worship cows and not eat beef?!
Shouldn't we all worship cows and not eat beef?
I'm not saying for religious reasons; but see the logic is clear - cows give milk, your mom fed you on breastmilk so technically, the cow is your mom as Hindus believe already - moreover, the cow is a cute animal - beef contains high amount of fats already.
Christians/Muslims -don't react adversely -it's only for discussion.

I think generally all animals should be respected. The cow is one such animal that definitely gives a lot to mankind. With just it's milk, man is able to produce so many things from it e.g. cheese, yogurt, cream etc. Instead of being grateful, we cut it up and dine on it. It's like having a good neighbor who provides for you and instead of being grateful for such a friend, one kills and eats him. Humans are generally shallow and selfish and everything he does or thinks is mostly geared towards his own advantage. Cows and every other animals deserve respect equally.
To gahrahstah: Humans are the only species that guzzle milk by the gallons every day and are the only species that drink milk when they've pass infancy and adolescence. We're the only species that have big grown ups drinking milk and shamelessly enough, not even milk that our own species can produce. If we want to drink milk, why do we need to obtain it from another species if we're so superior to them? Because the human female is useless and incapable of producing enough milk to satisfy the needs and greed of her own species'.
Getting most meat lovers to give up beef is like asking a mom to sacrifice her child's limbs. It's pretty hard to get some sense into people who've already made their minds up on something that they see no wrong or remorse in and no matter what, would not change for the better.
we'd all be much thinner, thats for sure.
Cows give milk for calves. Their milk is not ideal for human babies. To worship them because they give milk, as do ALL mammals, seems like shaky logic to me. Should we worship ALL milk producing animals, including ourselves?
So what health benefits is worshipping a cow going to give you?
Moderation is with anything food included. If a person wants to eat beef, eat lean beef and in moderation.
More benefits there then kissing the cow.
That would freak out Christians as well as Dogma fans (Mooby the Golden Calf) you know, false idols. Cows are pretty cute, though.
Cows flatulence is one of the greatest sources of greenhouse gasses. A cow is basically a grass eating fart machine.
I agree. Cows are our friends. lol :-)
actually, cows are reared for what there best at, they arnt all fat and give huge amounts of milk and meat. some are bread for just milk. and some are jsut bread for the meat.
I don't think I could quite see a cow as my Mum, but I don't eat beef anyway.
worship cows? your logic isnt the greatest. i dont drink milk any way. im lactose intolerant. plus cows arent technically our mothers just cause people drink their milk. did they ever care for us. no. do they even want us drinking their milk. i would think not. cows arent cute. they are very dirty. and as for beef cantaining a lot of fat, well i need to gain weight because i am underweight. thats all i have to say.
clearly cows have a divine purpose and mine is not to judge. i choose not to eat cow, but i respect another's choice to eat them.
no. lots of things are cute but i eat them. then again there's lots of ugly stuff out there too, even plants and fish.
We should worship Jesus Christ and nothing else. Eating as little beef as possible might help some ppl lose some weight and might help them cut down on their comsumption of fat. Same goes for pork.
IN YOUR DREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cows are wonderful, I agree. Nature in general is fantastic, and we should do it no harm.
But there's a big jump between appreciating/preserving nature and worshipping it/going vegan.
Basically, it looks like you're trying to incite trouble here. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian either, and I don't think that being vegan/vegetarian is a good idea, but people have every right to eat as they choose and we need to respect that right. So don't flame.
I feel guilty eating beef. I read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. The reason why many people become vegetarian may not only be for health reasons or animal activism, but also environmental reasons. It uses up lots of oil, the workers get treated poorly in poor working conditions, and the cows are mistreated.
I haven't had the guts to become vegetarian, but I have made the conscious effort to eat less red meat.
there is the argument that cows ruin the environment because it takes so many acres of grazing land to feed them and also their flatulence contributes to the hole in the ozone layer (i'm not sure if that is true or not)
hmmmm....!!!! I do not worship any animal, even human being!
I admire some human beings! OK.. back to your question!
I eat beef not very often, but I can't resist the high quatity ones (Kobe beef) + when I'm in the mood of eating red meat.
For those who do not eat beef for religious reasons, go ahead, it is your choices. But don't force me not to do so.
Cheers!
I think "respect" would be a more proper word, as worshiping sometimes brings out the worst in people and makes them do terrible things in the name of an innocent god/spirit/or whatever they choose to hide behind, or in this case it would be a cow.
Cows are living beings just like you and me, part of nature, and here for a reason (of their own), so just accepting that and giving them freedom which is now taken away from them, would be right.
As animals they would know what to do, there is no need to "worship" them in order to help somehow. I think the issue is really what we need to STOP doing. And that is, stop exploiting and killing all animals, including cows,. While we're at it, we humans better stop killing each other as well. So how about a general respect for life?
Yes,what if G-D turns out to be a cow?
HIgh amounts of fat? yeah if you eat the fat. YOu may want to research the nutrition problems in India. As to cows being cute, I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, I have worked on dairy and cattle ranches, and find nothing "Cute" about a gangley, slow witted cow, the calves are cute, but not the cows in my eyes.Beef is an excellent source of Protein, and Human Breast milk is far from Cows milk. All is here to eat and enjoy eating, nothing is unclean, it's just up to you if you can eat it. Many are turned of by other peoples diets such as Fish, Vegetables and fruits, if you saw the chemicals they spray on all the commercial store bought produce, you'd never eat another "fresh" vegtable again, you can't wash of the chemicals that are within the vegetables, only th outside, just as you are what you eat, the vegetable and fruit is as healthy as the chemicals it takes in to grow (alarming isn't it!)or a canned one with the preservatives.
In a word, NO!
i would love that to happen i love moo cows lol there cute people need to start thinking what goes in there mouths and start thinking hmmmm where does beef come from!?!
no
I don't worship cows but as a vegan I do not eat them or their milk.I also think they, and for that matter all farmed animals, should be given a lot better care than they get.
Yes, respect them....I live in France and the fact that the French have umpteen number of Cheese and Milk products.
But anyways each culture to it's own!
cow milk is 4 calfs not humans, thats wot breast milk is 4,i could be wrong but i belive humans are the only creation on this planet that drinks the milk of another animal, yeh i no u giv yr cat a saucer of milk but u wont see a mammal go an drink milk from a differnt specis in nature, that twaddle about hedgehogs drinkin frm udders of cows is just a myth
NO WAY IN HELL! 'the cow is your mom' - this is kind of insulting, and its probably not true, many other animals like goats give milk as well, and some people drink soymilk instead because they dont like milk. The cow is not cute, it stinks of poop (you're talking about calfs, which arent eaten as often). Beef does have high amounts of fat, BUT there is lean beef on the markets these days. Also beef is extremely delicious, think about what people do with it (Steak, burgers, sausages, casseroles, soup, grilled, marinated... you name it! [i dont think its fried tho...]
all mammals give milk so to fit with what you said we should worship them all
Ok, cows, very sweet, expecially calves. Why not worship all animals though? Sheep give us wool, goats give us yummt cheeses (obviosuly not direct), hens give us eggs (unless you're a vegan). Rabits are just cute, fish..... ummm, not sure what fish give to veggies. They are even cute to look at.
