Hummus or Pesto? Veggie sandwich spread.?!

Question:

Hummus or Pesto? Veggie sandwich spread.?

I'm making a veggie sandwich with rye bread, red onion, carrot, cucumber, spinach, green pepper and broccoli sprouts, so should I use hummus (very garlicy) or pesto?

thought I would ask for your opinion, so what do you think?

Answers:
Hummus! I find that the beans in the hummus add a little more substance to the sandwich and the extra protein never hurts....

Or you could put a bit of hummus on one side of the bread and pesto on the other - I bet that would be super tasty!
Enjoy your lunch!

Hummus of course. Aside from the fact that it goes better with what you've got already, and contributes more to your health, hummus is much cooler. Hummus is in its prime right now while pesto is a paste of the past. It was cool in the 90's and is quite played out at this point. Go with Hummus, for the taste, for your health, and for your style. Go Hummus or go home.

Hummus.

A sundried tomato pesto would be delicious on that sandwich. Try adding a slice of provolone cheese for protein and calcium, if you eat dairy products. Yummm!

Hummus
Pesto is better suited for pasta.

That's a hellava veg. sandwich, hummus should be eaten seperately

that's the perfect setup for hummus (add a splash of balsamic vingrette for a nice flavor)

I think this is what I'm having for lunch today with hummus of course! LOL =>

Pesto
Use hummus with avocado and tomatoes

A little of both would be mighty tasty! Hummus on one slice and pesto on the other. You can't go wrong with that sandwich. Yum!!!

Garlic hummus!!
I love using this on my veggie sandwiches in lieu of mayo, mustard or other toppings. Yum!!

ohhh... sounds yummy. i think i'd go with hummus and just a little pesto. the two go well together and will go with all the other ingredients you've chosen. enjoy lunch!

I would go for the hummus... it sounds tastier with your sandwich.

Mmmmm... i just had some Hummus...
but my basil in the garden is too small to harvest..
I would prefer fresh garlic... pine nuts... cheese and basil....
for the perfect PESTO!!!
you going to buy it or make it? you can always add more fresh garlic! and grind/whipp it up into the pesto!

Problem here is... who would kiss me afterwards?
(probably why i am still single! unless.... i feed "HER" some first!)
good luck!

Trust me... A lemony, garlic, mint, basil pesto with toasted pine nuts (if you can find them). Yummmm

At first I was going to suggest pesto because I am partial to my people's food (Italian). But I make exceptions to the rule.
: )
Here is my suggestion:
Since you have a healthy and tasty assortmant of vegetables already you want to incorporate protein to make it a balanced sandwhich. Hummus does just this, it is made out of chickpeas(protein source),sesame seed puree(tahini),lemon juice, garlic and extra virgin olive oil with cayenne pepper to taste. With hummus your meal will stick with you for a longer period of time.

Now I think I want some hummus.

BTW to those who said pesto is outdated..WRONG!
I grow fresh basil and use it for fresh pesto. You can use pesto as an appetizer ingredient, combine it with pasta, put it on fish with lemon or even pizza.

Who'll tell Segolene Fronk Hummer - Twinky Winky is finally over - Vau-Paradis ? Yaaarg like Hum-mousse.
