Vegan/veggie dogs??!

Question:

Vegan/veggie dogs??

i just found out while looking on a vegan web page that you can raise a dog or a cat on a vegan diet. just wondering if anyone has done this and if a dog would be able to remain healthy on such a diet.

The oldest dog in the world was avegan dog,it was a 29 year old border collie in Australia.

sorry but why in the H ell would u do that to a dog?? if u let on loose in the world he wouldn't grow vegetables...

That's called "ANIMAL CRUELTY"...Get a life!

It's kind of do-able for a dog, but not for cats. Cats need taurine, or they go blind. I have read into it and I wouldn't risk it. It's better to buy high quality organic or natural pet food (not "beneful" or even Science Diet-more like "wellness" brand) and only get your pets from shelters. Lots of great pets at the shelters in need of a home. You can even get purebreds. www.petfinder.org.

no i haven't

i don't think cats can go on veggie diets (i know you didn't ask about cats, just saying..)

i have heard of successful diet switches from omni to veggie for dogs ( and yes, they lived out long, healthy lives). though i don't think thats very fair for the dog since its making a choice for them, but oh well. :) hope this is what you wanted.

You can't raise a cat vegan or vege. They are meat eaters. They have short meat eaters intestines and they will die on such a diet.

Dogs, I don't really know about, but I don't think they will do very well or be very happy.

My bother and sister have raise all their pets on veggie diets and they were fine
