Answers:
Well, I'm from Texas and quite able to do it very easily. Health food stores can help (although a bit expensive). Rely on soy and tofu products for protein, plus milk and/or eggs. Definitely focus on milk. If you're going vegan, soy milk.

At a restaurant, ask if substitutions can be made. At Chili's, you can ask for a black bean patty with your burger. Pasta makes great meals. Veggie pizzas. Honeslty, it's not hard doing the vegetarian thing. Oh, and I personally hate the salad bar...and can still be happily filled.

Life.

I have known 1 or 2??
they are dry ,,have a bitter taste,, and Need an extra lubricant and they get cranky often.
If 2 are any judge..!
But why should I try again...

You could research the internet for help...I guess like you are doing now....LOL

I also thought about going vegetarian. I quit eating beef and seafood. I only eat birds and pigs. It is a start I guess. Try taking small steps instead of jumping right in. Give your body time to adjust.

Good luck and see you at the salad bar!

hello =]. im vegetarian and it doesnt matter where you live, you can be vegetarian everywhere. but it does matter where you live if you want to be vegan.

just be sure to get your protein suppliments!i recomend pill form because i have the drink kind and it tastes kinda chalky. lol

good luck!

Don't let others tell you that you can't do it - you can!

There are several "types" of vegetarians.

Vegan - that is, not animal products whatsoever.
And then Ovo- and Lacto- Vegetarians. That is, those who will eat eggs and/or dairy products but not animals.

You might want to look up the Moosewood Cookbooks. Moosewood is a vegetarian restaurant and they have some great books with ideas and recipes.

Once you educate yourself on how meat is processed and the conditions animals are kept and slaughtered in you will no longer want to eat meat (or dairy or eggs), trust me! It's dirty and gross.

I would start slow. I gradually weened myself off meat over about a three month period. I did it one animal at a time. First I stopped pork, then beef, then chicken, and my favorite, fish (seafood in general), I saved for last. I never had any unpleasant side affects. By Boca and Morning Star Farms products at Wal-Mart to replace your meats. They may take some getting used to, but they are fairly yummy and nutritious. Also if you have a health food store in your town, they will have a large selection of vegetarian food, probably not cheap though.

Also as you delve into vegetarianism you will learn that foods that you didn't know had animal sources do. Like Jell-o and marsh-mellows for instance. I wouldn't be to worried at first, just as you learn about foods that contain animal products, slowing remove them from your diet. It was probably over a year before I could consider myself a full-fledged vegetarian. When it comes to nutrients, though I do take daily vegetarian multi-vitamins (yes 99% of supplements and drugs in pill form contain gelitan, which is from animals), you should not have a problem getting healthy amounts of protein and other nutrients from soy products. It is a myth that their are some nutrients that you can only get from meat.

As for sticking to it, it shouldn't be hard. I am sure you have a good reason for choosing this life style, just don't forget it. If you don't, e-mail me and I can give you several reasons to be a vegetarian. Also don't let other people get you down. They will probably give you a hard time about this choice, but they a most likely jealous that they don't have the will-power to go through with a life-style change such as yours.

Oh, yeah, Red Robin serves some mad Boca Burgers !

I've been a vegetarian for 16 years, and I am the only one in my family who is. What works for me is being low-key about it. I try to avoid coming across as self-righteous or crusading for animal rights, but I also stick to my convictions and don't allow anyone to pressure me. Most people (including my Mother and Mother-in-law) have been very accommodating when it comes to meal choices. As far as what to eat goes (ex. Dairy products? Wisconsin is all about cheese too, right?), go with what level of vegetarianism you feel the most comfortable with. I eat dairy, some vegetarians eat fish, some are vegans.

Don't listen to PETAs crap.

it doesnt matter where you live- trust me, my family thought i had hid my head on something when i decided to become a vegetarian. sure we had a bit of a rough patch, but right now im totally vegetarian and can find plenty food for vegetarians. just cuz u live in WI, doesnt mean you have to be all about beef.

First I want to say Congrats on such a big choice in your life. I also just chose to become vegetarian in February of this year. I previously did not eat much meat usually only chicken and when I went no meat it was such a great feeling. I would recommend starting out slowly. Wean yourself and you'll be fine. I find that now I eat so much healthier then before (you'll stay away from fast food as they really don't accomodate veg diets which is a good thing). My husband is a meat eater but slowly I am getting to him. Just take it slow and you'll do great! Definitely get a supplement, the liquid ones absorb much better into your body! Good Luck!

becoming vegetarian is really hard. i suddgest taking a slow approch to it. Thats what i did. I live in illinois and belive me its all about meat here to. this is what i did; first every month i took away 2 meats to have your body adjust to it and start eating more protein filled things , like beans and peanuts. within 3 months i had fully taken it to being a vegetarian. its not that hard if you set your mind into it , i always used to go to peta2.com when i had cravings for meat and that reminded me of all the lives im saving :)

Go for it.. You may initially find osme difficulty but u'll know ver]geterian food is easy to love....Try indian stuff.. they make vegetables like non-vegeterian dishes and it almost taste the same... being a vegeterian is even good for ur health. Save another animal from dying
