Vegans vs Non-vegans?!
Vegans vs Non-vegans?
Do many of you vegans know that many animals die in the process of harvesting the vegetables. Farm machines kill foxes, rabbits, field rats, and other animals and their next with youngs to harvest their crops.
Then they spray insecticide to kill the insects and the insecticide run off into water and kill other wildlife in the process.
Furthermore, animal habitat are destroy to make new farming land not just for livestocks but also for vegetables.
Not to say people should eat more meat or vegetable because many vegans are beautiful and wonderful people.
But I think a true vegans grows his own food as least as much as possible :) Please don't be a vegan just to be a vegan.

I know it's differcult to grow all the food that you need but here's an idea, you grow a few type of veggie while your neighbor grows a few type of others. It would be a good trade. I'm not a vegan but we do trade vegetable with our neighbors.
But some of us need stuff at the market and we won't hesitate to go there.

I know what you mean. My dad's always had a garden, so maybe I should take up his hobby.
lol? im a vegan for the animals. i know some are used for growing crops and such, but by not eating them or supporting any industries that involve exploiting them, i am doing more good than if i were to eat an omnivorous diet, no?
ah and i do have a fruit and veggie garden :)
Im a Vegetarian, and the animals are very important there creatures just like you and me.

Ooooook. Whatever. I'm a vegan.
Just because someone is vegan doesn't mean they support insecticides, destroying habitats, or farm machines. The resulting death of animals in this way is by far minimal compared to that of the meat industry 'anyways.'
Even with all these -factors- included, it in no way changes the good things vegans do for the earth, themselves and the other people that are or aren't participating.
Things die accidently all the time, you should be a little bit more concerned about the intentional steak or burger you may eat.
There is no ultimate right or ultimate wrong, but there sure are obvious indicating factors that point us at the correct answers.. it's upto your reasoning after that.
thoughtful point-but remember, many vegans live in places like london or new york city-where are they supposed to grow these vegetables?in a flat?doesnt seem like that would work!also, some people are vegans not for ethical reasons, but to try to avoid health problems like high cholestrol or cancer.as such, they are not as involved with animal welfare, but with their own welfare,so they probably wouldnt be quite so invested in growing their own crops.unfortunately ,most people today have no place to grow anything!
well yeah, of course it is better to grow your own, but that is not always possible. winter is not growing season, unless you can grow enough tolast through the wiinter. my dad used to raise a couple of calfs ever year for his own meat, the way, just like the vegetables, he knows what goes into it before he eats it. but with cows, they can pass on the mad disease to its fetus. that part is not a good thing, and the only way to find out if a cow has it is by the brain. and you would have to kill it to test it.. so how would ya know, atleast with the vegans we don't carry on a disease that will kill ya, from eating it. or make you sick in 15 years. bad..
I've read all this before in a book called" Omnivore's
Dilemma". While it is good to grow your own vegetables,
you must consider the economic effects it would have on
nations like Chile, Peru, Mexico and Venezuela if
everyone went exclusively on a diet comprised of home
grown vegetables. I am a vegan that has been buying
locally grown produce, growing some of my own and
buying imported organic also. These poor countries
depend on consumers buying their crops. Please
take that into consideration. I am happy to support
our South American neighbors with my dollars.
And yes I know that not all produce there is fair trade,
I've read about it and seen the movie, " Motorcycle Diaries".
However I feel that the poor and exploited would be worse
off if we bought no crops from the countries.
No vegan is perfect, but we try our best, and you must
have a sense of proportion.
