What are the disadvantages of vegetarianism ?

It's hard to get all protein, amino acids, vitamins and nutrients that animal products provide.
The human body must have proteins, carbohydrates and fats to survive, especially during the pre-adult years. Veggies are a good source for vitamins and minerals, but lack those important building blocks that the body so desperately needs to grow and remain healthy.

for example: your invited to a bbq and everyone is eating real meat except for you and there are no vegetarian dishes then you'll feel like the odd one out
or you go to a restaurant and there are no actual vegetarian dishes
You have to carefully plan and monitor your diet to make up for the protein, iron and other nutrients that you are losing from not eating meat.
there are none being a vegetarian is awsome great food you can eat as much as you want to without worring a/b ur weight
agreed being a vegetarian is incredibly beneficial... only meat eaters believe you can only get protein and other nutrients from eating meat.. they're raised to believe that its how they justify eating dead animals... ew.. the only thing i would think the down side is is that you have to defend your belief to those ppl sometimes, they like to debate vegetarians because alot of times they feel like our choices are an insult to them
mainly protein deficiencies, and lack of iron in the diet. of course a good source of both of those is beans, but who wants to eat that many beans, really.

I havent found any other than if you dont take your vitamins you become a little deficient. Nothing major though.
Im a vegetarian for 10 years. I will tell you 'lack of meat' is not a disadvantage to it. Thats the whole point, we WANT the lack of meat.
I think the disadvantages are that sometimes i have trouble with vitamin deficiencies. I dont eat fish so I have trouble getting my Omega-3s. Also, B vitamins come from meat. So I take a multivitamin specially formulated for vegetarians to cover my bases.
Another bad thing is, the way people treat you sometimes. Im a big enough person to look past it but it can get annoying.
Otherwise, its all good. Saving lives, feeling healthy. Im perfectly happy with my decision I made when I was 13 and wont ever change it.
