Why are there so many tumbs up/down in this section?!
Why are there so many tumbs up/down in this section?
i've only just begun to notice this but if you look in any other section...i dunno like 'beauty' or something you'll see that the answers don't have many thumbs up/down but when you get to the vegetarian section you'll see like 13 thumbs down if anyone says the words 'like' and 'meat' in the same sentence!? have you all gone mad or something? do you stay up all night combing through people's answers and giving them thumbs down if they eat meat!? i just find it funny has anyone else noticed it?

Ive noticed it happens alot in the religious section as well...... There seems to be alot of people who cant stand other points of view.
Ive got four thumbs down.... can i have more as i collect them.. your point is well made. lol
It's because people post what they consider to be less frivolous questions and answers here. It's about opinions rather than advice usually and people react strongly to supporting and contradicting opinion, hence - thumbs up/down.
I usually don't bother (having learned from experience that folk don't reply), but I have to ask:
Just what do I deserve 6 thumbs down for?
I havent noticed it. Do u comb through peoples answers to see if they dont like people who eat meat. Think about it
I love Spam fritters - will I get the first thumbs down ?
Unfortunaly when some people have an opinion they automaticaly think everyone elce is wrong.
^chillipope^
i'll give you a thumbs down if your share you spam fritters, deal? lol
never noticed but i got a leg of lamb in the oven, lol.
like or not
because it is political and people hold strong opinions - and while I am somewhat sympathetic to vegetarianism, I find it an area in which some of their supporters are rather self righteous (a big-time turn off).
I have to go. My breakfast - bacon, sausage and eggs - is ready. mmmmmmmmmm, good!!
I think it's because this section could be a nice place for vegetarians and vegans to hang out and swap recipes. Instead we get not only this kind of question, but the "don't vegetables feel pain, too" and "why do you think you're better than me?" multiple times a day.
Even on the questions that are vegetarian oriented, meat eaters insist on posting comments about how good meat is. Why not post that on the questions and other food & drink areas?
If this was a "vegetarians vs meat-eaters" section, I could understand why meat-eaters even come here - since they can't leave us alone, I'll continue to be one who gives thumbs down to the dopey answers they give.
When I scan the food questions, I don't see vegetarians/vegans in the other areas harrassing people. In the veg sections it is replete with silly questions and rude thoughtless comments. I don't think people are giving the thumbs down because they don't agree, but because the response is generally purposefully rude or unhelpful.
I agree with Nightingale - I don't get why some meat eaters feel compelled to come here and post comments about meat - it makes no sense.
But this is the last baiting question by a meat eater that I'm going to answer. What I will start doing is flagging these questions as objectionable. I'd recommend to everyone else not to answer these questions either, since the poster's intention is to get a rise out of everyone then laugh at us. Why give them the satisfaction and only wind up encouraging them to ask more stupid questions?
Because, unfortunately, this section is abused and turned into a battle ground by some but, thankfully, not all.
