Hooray for you, you are willing to read books! A very important book for new vegetarians is "Diet for a Small Planet" by Frances Moore Lappe. It contains information about how to combine plant proteins (rice and soy, corn and beans, for example) to get complete protein that is as nourishing as meat proteins. It also has great information about the effect of vegetarianism on the world food supply and the hunger problem. I also suggest the magazine "Vegetarian Times".
I don't have to wish you health and long life because as a vegetarian you will get them anyway! Congratulations.
Well if wanna learn how to cook veg dishes then u could go 4 Sanjeev kapoors, Tarla dalal 's COOKERY BOOKS aur else watch their programms on T.V.
Hi there! So glad you joined us veggies! Yes, there a lot of publications out there.....There is a magazine called "Vegetarian Times" It is an AWESOME magazine that gives lots of information about vegetarianism and great easy tasty recipes (all vegetarian and vegan.) The have a website www.vegetariantimes.com http://www.vegetariantimes.com
Check them out! :) There is also a great book called "The Real Forbidden Fruit" by Jeff Popick. There is a free e-book copy available at http://www.therealforbiddenfruit.com/veg... It will be available for a short while until the book version comes out on June 15.
Great alternatives to milk are almond milk, soy milk, rice milk, hemp milk, hazelnut milk etc. Soy is a great source of protein and there are lots of yummy food products available! If you have a Whole Foods or Trader Joes food mart where you are, check out their veggie/vegan products. Another great source of info is your local health food store. Vitamins are made for vegetarians (glycerin free.) Look for them. These vitamins do not have animal by products.
Aubrey Organics http://www.aubrey-organics.com/... carries a fantastic line of vegan personal care products and Aubrey does not test their products on animals. Also check out Dr. Bronner's soaps http://www.drbronner.com/index.html... (all vegetable based-not tesed on animals.) Another great line is Seventh Generation http://www.seventhgen.com/ (again no animal byproducts and no animal testing.)
For makeup check out http://www.veganunlimited.com
There are tons of websites out there. All you need to do is key word search on vegetarianism or veganism and you will find lots and lots of info.
If you are into vegan clothing, check out www.hempsisters.com http://www.hemp-sisters.com/ and http://www.moretreeshemp.com/ and http://www.rawganique.com/
Good luck and congrats!!! :)
well, you can look around on maps and stuff. but if you are in colorado, youre in luck! in boulder there is a new VEGAN FAST FOOD restrant called the V.G.Burger (i think thats what its called) and in denver, there is a delicious all vegetarian, mostly vegan resturant called watercourse.
but its pretty easy to be vegetarian.not much you need to know. but stay away from gelatin! it is made from animal cartilage. and carmine, used as red coloring which is in makeup and some candies is made from ground up beetles. so, hope i could help. and hope you live in colorado. :)
First of all, congratulations!!! Good for you!!!
Have you tried to type the word "Vegetrian" on the URL line?
And you will get scores of sites.
One suggestion i have for you is: don't go out (unless you have a lot to spare) and spend a lot of money on veg books yet....
There is a lot of free information available on the web including recipes. If you do not succeed or are not satisfied with anwsers you receive, come back here or email me directly at yahoo.
