Help with my pregnancy craving?
I've been a vegetarian for 6 years and now with my second pregnancy I am craving tuna. I know if I eat fish I would get violently ill (since my body can't process it), but I can't calm this craving. What can I eat to satisfy it? What has the same nutrients?

Seaweed... add dulse to your salad or get Vegetarian sushi. It's wrapped in a seaweed. I hope this helps. I agree eating Tuna might really make you ill. PLUS most doctors are suggesting PG ladies limited there tuna because of mercury.
I don't know that eating something with the same nutrients would satisfy the craving... sometimes pregnancy cravings aren't rational. There are some pregnant women who crave dirt, which obviously isn't healthy. That said, I do hope someone comes up with a suggestion that would substitute for you... I'm just not sure it would be quite the same!
I don't think there is anything that can be subsituted for a pregnancy craving. I know that when I was pregnant, I was craving bacon....which I never eat, after a while, I just had to give in. Sometimes cravings are a way that your bodies tells you that you need something
You can always ask your ob/gyn to.

Try some peanut butter on a spinach leaf on a cracker of some sort.
Some cravings can't be satisfied with anything but what you are actually craving. Tuna is a good source of protein and it is possible you are in need of it.
That said, you might want to try upping your Protein intake. Vegetarian Baked beans are a good source of protein, as is Peanut butter.
Veggie Burgers,Tofu and Spinach are all good too.

i was raised pescatarian and ate tuna until probably 5th or 6th grade. so i guess that makes me vegetarian for... doing math... about 11 years. ive recently been having tuna cravings as well (though im thankfully not pregnant) but recently i tried fake tuna salad. it was actually really good, i was suprised, so if i were you id try one of the recipes suggested. the one i had was made with TVP, though im sure you could make it other ways. good luck finding something, i hope your pregnacy goes well!

i heard a good way to stop a craving is just drink a big glass of water and wait like 15 min. idk if it works though. give it a try!
The mock tuna salad sounds like a good idea. Or you could try aversion therapy ;D Find some way to make it really gross to you. Also, I have heard that just the smell of something you are craving is enough to help satisfy you... it sure doesn't work for me, though...
