They sure can! The absolute truth is that it's called beefeater gin because it is named after the special guards that guard or used to guard the Tower of London.....beefeaters. Hope this helps!

First of all like the on respondant, the beefeater has been the guard at the tower of london for hundreds of years, the name came from them being paid with meat in the middle ages.
As for the one respondats raising the filtering in gelatin or isglass, distilled alcohol is only filter if there are elements in it to be removed bourbon and some flavoured liquors, gin is a distilled grain alcohol which has a number of botanicals added along with spices, is steeped like tea, then redistilled to the final product.
