is it true? im vgetarian and i dont drink milk or eggs but i still use cheese and stuff like that....what are hte benefits of being vegan or vegetarian???

Answers:
It really depends more on your reasoning for doing it. If it pertains to animal abuse then it wouldnt make sense (to me) to continue eating eggs and consuming dairy and cheese.

Read the following pages to learn a little bit about what most dairy cows go through, and the benefits of not having any dairy present in your diet:

Please read the following link as well which points out that "milk does a body good" really is just a slogan!

THe difference is philosophical, not dietary. Vegans believe it is abusive to the animal to use anything that comes from an animal, whether that be meat, leather, milk (or milk products) or honey, etc.... Vegetarians abstain from eating animal flesh, but do not have a problem with using products that are obtained from animals without killing the animal. People say one is better over the other because they want everyone else to believe the same way they already do, in short.

Well one isn't always necessarily better than the other. However, vegan is usually considered a lifestyle rather than a diet. Vegan's usually strive to be cruelty free in all aspects of their life. But veganism would have more health benefits than vegetarianism alone. Because dairy and eggs contain a lot of fat and cholesterol, vegans are far less prone to obesity that omnivores and vegetarians. Also vegans wouldn't consume the steroids, hormones and antibiotics that are often found in dairy.

I think there is a difference.

I beg to differ. Living by a vegan diet can also be about health. Eating animal products is not good for you. Cheese and butter are full of fat and contribute to high cholesterol. Cows and chickens are often fed nasty stuff - I don't want to consume that stuff by proxy. Dairy animals often suffer horrible conditions, but even if it was cheese made with a naturally lactating happy and loved cow I would skip it. We aren't meant to consume the milk from other animals at all, let alone once we're grown. It's just not healthy. Let's not forget the whole pus thing, too - yuck! Eggs aren't quite so bad for you, but they just seem gross to me. I've never liked eating eggs and so replacing them in baked goods is no big deal.

When I would use eggs in baking before I would have to crakc it in my hand and scoop out the white squiggly stuff or the *ack* blood spot. If that's not a good indication I just wasn't meant to eat egg I don't know what is!

I would say the health benefits are mostly in fat. A lot of dairy is very fatty (although now you can buy fat free anything.) especially cheese. I am a vegetarian too and I love cheese so I would have a really hard time being vegan.

Most people are vegan for political reasons and not health reasons though. I would say vegetarian people are about half and half.

I dint think its much better.. but probably healthier without the Dairy......

Like someone said being a vegan is a lifestyle rather that a diet!! because if you are vegan you have to go buy vegan shoes because most shoes are glued together with ground up horses!!!! (ground up horses are in the glue)

Vegan diets are better because they don't take in the fat from dairy or the cholesterol from eggs.

vegans hit higher astral planes.

Vegan is better because it saves more animals--yes, animals ARE tortured for milk and eggs--and also is better for the environment, as egg hens and dairy cows poop a LOT. If you are against the veal industry, give up milk NOW, as veal is linked directly to the dairy industry.
