Of course
yes but usually microwaved products have an undesirable texture to them. I can't eat microwaved pizza. YUK.
Not the best way to cook a veggie. The microwave depletes many of the vegetable's nutrients.
it retain more or there vitamins than steaming them
Yes it is. When you cook vegetables on the stove top it takes a lot of the nutrients out. Microwave leaves it more crunchy and colorful.
Actually it depends what your microwaving it in if its plastic then no but if its glass then sure
I microwave vegetables but i found this online and thought it was interesting.
If you have ever wondered whether or not microwaved food is safe, here's an experiment you can do at home. Plant seeds in two pots. Water one pot with water that has been microwaved, the other with regular tap. The seeds that received microwaved water won't sprout. If microwaved water can stop plants from growing, think of what microwaved food can do to your health!
Of course. I get those little single serve veggies that are made for the microwave. Actually a good portion of my diet is in single serve packages made for the microwave.
yes
I have heard it is healthy, and better than boiling them
yes it is, all that crap about causing cancer is not true its just conspiracy from the government, Microwaves are even lower on the wavelength spectrum than light and colors!!! which means there is more radiation on things from holding a purple crayon next to something that it coming from a microwave the only difference is that the micro waves are focused. the microwaves break up protiens from the inside out. Unless your eating human, your food will be safe.
Heat kills all vitamins, and you eat junk!
Best is raw!
Microwaving veg destroys any antioxidants and most of the nutrients they contain. Boiling isn't that great, either. Steaming or cooking them for a few minutes in a shallow water "bath" is better, and of course, eating them raw is best.
Microwaving vegatables is ok and healthy, but it is more nuticient for you to steam or another way w/o mircowave
No it turns the fibers into animal protiens.
Yup, microwaves do not add or detract anything from food. Personally, I prefer raw, steamed, baked or fried before Microwave. Non-the-less --- it is not bad for you unless your microwave oven is leaking radiation. Even then - it won't harm the veggies, only living folk nearby.
So, now you're wondering if your microwave leaks radiation - most don't! Older ovens might if a seal is broken. You can test your oven by holding a fluorescent light bulb near the oven door. If it lights up while the microwave is in operation, you may have a leak.
So, hey, yeah - enjoy your veggies cooked in a micro!
The Ol' Sasquatch ü
Yes, but it usually takes the CRUNCH away from them [specially broccoli] and personally, I enjoy that crunchy crunch lol :)
Hi Dantien, sure it's fine using the microwave, but I wouldn't overuse it...because one never knows what effects all that radiation, whether high or low, might have on our health. I'd use it only when I'm too tired or pressed for time to use the "old" way. LOL! Good appetite! Adela
its kinda bad , from the radiation , i prefer to boil it . but if your want to eat faster , go ahead . Its not that bad though
The short answer is yes.
Microwaves have a long wavelength. When people refer to "radiation", they are usually associating it with nuclear bombs, Chernobyl, X-rays, etc, all of which are short wavelength radiation. Even visible light has a shorter wavelength than microwaves!
So don't worry, when you cook something in the microwave, it does NOT become radioactive. Microwaves just heat the water molecules by friction with each other. Microwaved veggies cook faster than conventionally cooked veggies. Time is an essential factor in how much nutrition is lost.
As for the stories that microwaved blood (transfusion) killed a woman, even if were true, it was DIRECTLY injected into a woman's bloodstream. Blood is a complex matrix of proteins and the rapid friction might have denatured them, leading to potentially deadly effects. When you eat something, it all has to break down in your digestive system anyway.
it can kill a lot of the nutrients but it also kills bacteria and pesticides etc.......... washing, steaming on the stove top is the best method- raw is even better if possible-use clean water to clean
I have heard that microwaves are REALLY bad because of the waves that they produce. I would put it in the oven
