Is Fish A Vegetarian Food?!

Question:

Is Fish A Vegetarian Food?

Answers:
No. If you eat fish and seafood, but no meat, you would be a pescatarian. Vegetarians eat no creatures of any kind. Vegans dont use products from animals, such as leather, fur, honey, milk, eggs, or products tested on animals.

a genuine vegetarian doesn't eat flesh, whether meat or fish. They want to avoid eating living creatures. But some avoid eating meat for health reasons rather than moral reasons, so they might eat fish.

according to certain veggie diets fish is acceptable..but it depends on what type of veggie eater you want to be.

no...

Some vegetarians won't eat chicken and red meat, but will eat fish. Some avoid it all. It depends on how strict the vegetarian is.

no

It depends on your definition of vegetarian. I would say no, I don't eat fish. If you want to call yourself vegetarian and still eat fish, fine. But not everyone will respect that.
If you are trying to cook for someone who is vegetarian and you don't know if they eat fish, it would probably be safer to bet that they don't or if you feel comfortable to ask them.

No, unless you're a pescitarian (spelling?)...but, I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and I also don't use leather, suede, fur, or products with gelatin in them, or products tested on animals.

Nope

Some people consider themselves "pesco-vegetarians", and they believe it's okay to eat fish. As far as true vegetarianism goes, no, fish is not vegetarian.

Fish is an animal with flesh. The widely accepted and known definition of a vegetarian is one that does not consume animal flesh.

Most of the answers you will get here are wrong and uninformed. A "pescetarian" is not in any form of vegetarianism and no real vegetarian eats fish....period. There are people who claim to be vegetarian and eat fish...what it comes down to is they are not vegetarian at all.

no. it's meat because it has living flesh, and eating fish contributes to global overfishing, which, in time, will destroy our oceans. overfishing is becoming almost as big a threat as global warming, although it doesn't get as much attention as it should.

my god, this question is asked at least 4 times a day. do you think fish are plants or something? it's pretty obvious that it's animal meat.

Nope, it's still an animal. Some semi-vegetarians eat it, though.
