Can anyone remember when you could smell a pot of brewing TEA a mile off?
What has happened to the aroma and taste of modern day teas? I think they mix a little tea leaves with some other kind of bush. What do you think?
Do you know a good brand?

Yorkshire tea are good. So is premier Gold from Aldi. I know what you mean. Nowadays, with other types of tea I find I have to use double the amount of tea bags. I cannot live without it! I joke that I need it intravenously! Any time of the day or night, but particularly morning!!
Yeah it has changed by loads...but anyway none of us drink tea in our house so I'm not to sure about it now ...anyway fruit tea still smells strong and fresh...
yes that was in the old days before tea bags, when we would use tea leaves and brew the tea on the cooker for 5-10 minutes.i think the modern teas are crap and saw a report last week in the scottish press.it was from atea expert in india and he was saying that modern tea bags made by the top companies had nothing more than sawdust in them.
I use JS Assam tea (not bags) at home and there is still some aroma when I brew up.
I remember them days
Are you sure it was the tea in the pots you could smell and not all the tea leaves that were washed down the drains
I think you would need to go back to the old ways of making tea. My nan used to have a ritual when it came to tea, rinse pot, boil water, add boiled water to pot and swirl around pot, then empty, add leaves, add boiling water, stir, brew, add milk to teacup, which sat on a saucer, when tea has brewed pour into a strainer over the cup, drain, drink, put tea cosy on tea pot,enjoy.......aahhhh memories.
The problem, if you wish to call it that, is in the manufacturing process. It used to be with loose tea that the tea would be picked and shipped to whatever company was distributing it. From there it was packaged and shipped with very little processing from field to consumer. These days, however, there is a tremendous amount of processing involved, especially in tea used for tea bags, and the tea leaves will sit for long periods of time in manufacturing facilities allowing it to dry out an lose its aroma and flavor. Your best option these days is to stick with loose tea and the most fragarent and tasty teas are the organic teas that can be found in most natural food stores and in some grocery stores in the natural food section.
Specially at 3 pm. Where I come from, always coffee or tea at 3. uh-um good. I love Lipton. For a long time.
