Can i bottle water?!
Can i bottle water?
When I moved into my house, I was told there is a spring running through my backyard. If this is true, can I bottle the water and sell it?
Answers:
Yes. You will have to have the water tested for toxic chemicals and pathogenic bacteria. Also, you will need to check local, state, and federal laws to learn requirements and what licenses you will need. Might even need to have an environmental impact study done to see what removal of large amounts of water from your spring will do to the environment of your area.
First though, you might just test the flow rate of the spring to see if it produces enough water to bother with.
You can use it for yourself and even then you may want to filter it or send it through some kind of processing to clean it. You may also want to have it tested by a lab. My grandmother still uses well water but just for her personal use.
However if you do sell you'll probably have to put some kind of disclaimer on the bottles or a sign when people buy it from you.
From what I know I think that that would be considered illegal. But if its not you would have to filter the water first to make sure its clean but I would check first.
Not without the approval of FDA and all those guys.
