Can drinking too much water kill you?!

Question:

Can drinking too much water kill you?

Answers:
Actually it can. It's called water intoxication (also known as hyperhydration or water poisoning). Just recently a woman died from it during a promo for Wii. It is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain function that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside of safe limits by a very rapid intake of water

duh

If you drink too much at one time ... YES.

It's called hyponatremia or water intoxication.

Water can actually make you feel drunk, and it can kill you. But you would have to drink VERY large quantities, and ignore your screaming bladder.

if your drowning in it yeah but as a beverage no.

Yes.

yes, did u hear about that lady that got killed by drinking too much water for a radio contest?

I dont think it can but if you drown ur insides in it...it could..meaning when you have to go to the bathroom go and dont hold it

Yes, a local radio station here in florida were in big trouble after they had a water drinking contest and a woman died after drinking i think 1 1/2 gallon of water. So, yes you can have water poisoning.

depends.... if you spread out the water evenly during the day, then no... but if you drink lots of water at once, ie 4 gallons, at once, then you might be at risk for drowning yourself!!

yea it will kill you. It will affect your aphrocatitory system but will be healty for the respiratory and digestive system. It will have major affect on the gluor body parts of your body but will also kill the anodes in your body. But will get rid of all the salt in ur kidneys. SO DON'T OVER DRINK!!!!!!!!

Yep. If you drink enough water you can actually dilute the salt in your body. It's a big hazard for people running marathons. If they only drink water and don't eat anything salty or drink sports drinks or anything, they can die. It happens. Most marathons give the runners information about it.

Yes! I actually heard about a woman that drank too much water at one time. It was for a contest at a radio station, and she drank so much, it did kill her.

Yes, this lady just did that not to long ago. She won a radio contest, she drank 2 gallons of water very quickly and held her pee. She ended up dead.

yes...too much of anything can kill you.

if you drink too much at one time then yes...

Yes. Hyponatremia is a sometimes fatal medical condition caused by not enough sodium in the blood. Without enough sodium, you cannot maintain blood pressure and can die as a result. Mild hyponatremia is not uncommon among first-time marathoners or visiters to the desert, who are told to drink lots and lots of water. This water goes into their blood, which is filtered by their kidneys, which pull out a little sodium with the water. If this sodium is not replaced, they can get very sick.

Only if you're an idiot.

yes.. it will get into your lungs causing you to drown.. you would have to drink a LOT for that to happen though.. at least several gallons in one sitting..

yes

I don't think it can kill you. I myself have two gallons of water a day and I'm ok. But I do think it can harm you. I'm drinking so much water because I'm in a water diet. The only thing that it does is that it flushes out my electro lites and makes me feel very tired. Drinking too much water can harm you when you get old too. Your bladder will go weak and then you wouldn't be able to control yourself from going to the restroom.

Most people think their ticket to heaven is to be a good person. Would you consider yourself a good person? Most people do. Answer the following questions honestly and listen to your conscience. Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything, irrespective of its value? Have you ever looked at someone with lust? Jesus said that doing that is the same as committing adultery with them (Matthew 5:28). Have you ever hated anyone? If you have the Bible says that you are a murderer (I John 3:15). If you have answered “Yes” to these questions then you are a liar, a thief, an adulterer and a murderer and you will be found guilty on Judgment Day (Hebrew 9:27, Revelation 21:8). If you die in your sins you will be condemned to eternal punishment in hell for your crimes against God. God loves you and doesn’t want that to happen. That is why He sent Jesus to suffer and die on the cross (John 3:16, Romans 5:8). Then He rose from the dead, defeating death. You broke God’s law (Romans 3:23, I John 3:4), but Jesus paid your fine. Your only ticket to heaven is Jesus Christ (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). To be forgiven and go to heaven you must repent (confess your sins, be specific, and turn from them) and put your complete trust in Jesus Christ alone (Acts 20:21). Just pray from your heart. Do this today before it’s too late! Then begin to read the Bible daily and obey what you read. www.transfired.org

Yes, A woman died from drinking too much water on
a radio station contest a few months ago...
The DJ's were fired , station was sued and I'm not sure
about any criminal charges being filed against station & DJ's
for having the contest...

Yes, it's called water intoxication. It's most commonly seen in athletes and infants. You can drink so much so fast that your body cannot process all of the liquids and you literally drown because your kidneys, tissues and other organs all swell to the point of shutting down due to the excess fluids. There was a recent case in Sacramento, CA where a woman took part in a radio station contest that required you to drink as much as you could without going to the bathroom. She died a few hours later.

I've heard that it can, but thats all I drink and I'm still kickin.

You CAN die from drinking too much water .

You would drown all your internal organs.

You should drink 6-8 glasses a day.

If you drink more than 20. You are good as dead.

BUt it depends on your intake of water in the last day too.

You may need more water if you are dehydrated.

no it want unless you go to florida lol

It's called water intoxication. Your body tries to balance sodium and water levels. That's why when you get an ivy needle attached to you in the hospital, it is usually of some type of solution with sodium. they're trying to maintain a sodium-water balance in your cells. you're basically dilluting the sodium in your body, creating an imbalance. your cells swell up and eventually put too much pressure on the cells and bursts if you drink too much water.

BUT what killed that woman on that radio show was not how much she drank but how fast she drank it. You can drink the amount of water she drank but sparingly throughout the day. She drank all that water in too short of a time.

Yes it can. It's called water intoxication and a woman recently died in a radio station sponsored water chugging contest aimed at earning a car (actually, I think it was for a wii -- some play on the words wii and wee) by drinking gross amounts of water and seeing who could go the longest w/o having to pee.

yes
