Do you say soda, pop, or sodapop?!

Question:

Do you say soda, pop, or sodapop?

I want to see what you all call a softdrink. Do you say soda, sodapop, coke, or pop? Could you also tell me what region of the US or country your from?

Hello:

My cousin and I ALWAYS got into an argument over this because she was from Florida, and I am from Michigan! Anyhoo,in Florida they call soda pop,"soda." In Michigan,we have ALWAYS called it,"Pop,"and I truly believe it is because that is all we have ever heard soda pop being called was,"pop." I told my cousin that if you came to Michigan and ordered a soda, somebody would give you a club soda drink not soda pop. My cousin who thought she was just so tough and such a comedienne told me that if you were in Florida and ordered a pop that someone would hit you. Also,Southern states calle alot of the different soda pops,"Coke,"even thought Pepsi products are very popular through the southern states!! I hope this has been helpful and have a safe and Happy Easter!! ;-) P.S. I have plenty of,"Pop,"on hand especially Pepsi and Mountain Dew!! *Giggles* ;-)

I'm from Michigan

It's a toss up between Coke or soda. I usually say Coke @ a restaurant, and refer to it as soda @ home. BTW, I'm from CA.

Iowa - I usually say pop, but I'll sometimes say soda or soda pop. I only say coke when I want an actual Coca-Cola.

sodey.... Pocahontas AR

New England - soda.

soda -- Texas... woot!

Pittsburgh PA I say soda but EVERYONE says pop. I got soda from my sorority sisters in college who were from Philadelphia. They had NO IDEA what pop was!

Pop - Michigan

I say, "Damn, I'm thirsty. I wish I had a f&@$ing coke!" I'm in Los Angeles

Soda in the south pop in the midwest

Pop, I'm from Canada, in the East...I can pretty much verify that everyone in Canada calls a carbonated, sugary beverage consumed by the masses, as pop

In Canada, especially Ontario, "having a few pops" could also mean having a few beer or "wobbly pop"

If you watch hockey in Canada, with commentator Don Cherry, he will often say "I was having a few pops the other night with..."

He ain't talking about Pepsi or Coca Cola

I say Pop and I'm from Chicago. I'm currently living in St. Louis where they call it soda. I refuse to call it that!

Indiana here and our family says coke. Doesn't matter if it's Pepsi or Coke. Interesting question..

Soda's bad for you...but I know it tastes good...I just don't drink it 'cause I'm a runner. And there you go, I call it soda! I'm from northern Virginia, like up by D.C. :) Sometimes I just call it Coke though. Dang, I haven't had a soda in FOREVER...lol.

I see some people said that the Midwest say soda, but I'm from Chicago and we say pop...but in St.Louis they do say soda. It just depend where you grew up...but saying soda is affiliated with being country up here.

Hope this was useful.... :)
