How did tea become a major drink in the UK?
The origins of its entry into the UK and how it became part of the British culture.

This sounds like a homework question.
Tea was introduced into England before it became the UK.
China tea (unfermented) and Indian tea (fermented and therefore black).
Blame 'John Company'. The East India Trading Company.
Tea was exotic and kept in small, lockable but portable caskets/tea caddies. Only the lady of the house had the key to the caddy. Why servants on the make didn't simply take the whole caddy has never been explained
So tea was a 'posh' drink, which only the rich could afford. That is probably why it became part of the British culture. The 'nouveau riche' from the industrial revolution thought that drinking the expensive beverage would take them a step up the society ladder.
Hundreds of years ago, discovered Indians and chinese were dinking it. Whe brought here, it took off in a big way!
Early trade with China introduced tea to the British. Later tea was grown in India, a British colony at the time.
As R.E.M.E. said: "Hundreds of years ago, discovered Indians and chinese were dinking it." I presume you mean: "dunking it". Anyway, someone said, maybe we should "dunk" a biscuit in it, and maybe even drink it. Then they discovered that that was hardly any more fun than what they had before. That was how coffee got invented.
And beer, beautiful, beautiful beer. Mmmmmm.........
India & China. Not sure which came first though.
