Yirgecheffe and Harrar beans from Ethiopia are two of the best varieties in the world. Go to a coffee specialty shop and buy your own beans to grind, and I think you'll enjoy it more than an already bagged commercial brand.
The best I ever had was at the Peet's coffee shops around San Fransico.
starbucks
Folgers, just plain old Folgers. That is, if you are talking about brands you make at home. I live in a small town, there are no trendy coffee shops, so I don't know about those.
Dunkin Donuts!
starbucks!!
ILLY coffee works for me.
While I do adore my Starbucks Grande Vanilla Latte, and my White Chocolate Mocha on special days, I must say that for everyday use at home I love Maxwell House French Vanilla. The Folger's kind tastes like they added oily fake vanilla to the grinds. The MH one tastes like they infused it somehow with subtle vanilla flavor. Big difference.
As for straight up coffee- I'd have to say Dunkin', although the new McD's is SOOO much better than it used to be.
If I read your question correctly, you want the best brand and not best place to buy coffee. The Jamaican Blue Mountain is one of if not the best. Pricey but oh so good.
Espresso News coffee...they roast it everyday. I like the Panama Boquete.

irish cream coffee
Starbucks(love it!)
If you can't get to a Starbucks or want something cheaper,my advice is to try Maxwell House or Millstone coffees.
