Bottled water vs. tap?
Does it make a difference? When I lived in NYC they said that was the best tap in the world due to the aquaducts coming down from upstate NY. I wonder... I live in the SW and wouldn't drink tap...do bottled or Brita.

i think that bottled is better because supposedly it doesn't have alot of the chemicals that tap water has to purify it

Where I live (Central Coast / So. California) the water is just plain nasty coming out of the tap...always has been. I prefer Kirkland (Costco) bottled water. But when I lived in the sierra nevada foothills the water was crisp and fresh

always filter your water , sometimes even bottled water is crap because of some minerals that are desolved in it. tap water contains alot of chemicals so using an aftermarket filter will usually take out all the imputatities in your water. filtered tap water at home and natural source spring water outside.

i have a Brita filter which works very well for me...although I would drink tap if I had to. It's not too nasty, but I can definitely tell a difference.
in the NW the tap water is better than bottled water.
tap where I'm from is sooo gross, floaties are all in it and it taste weird. We filter our water and if the filter dies we drink bottled. I don't like bottled though because it kinda taste like plastic but it's better than the tap 100%.

The safest bottled water is the brand that uses distilling to clean it. NOTHING gets through but water.
A good alternative is to filter your tap water with either Brita or PuR filter system of your choice.
One negative regarding bottled water is the lack of flouride so important in the development of good teeth.

The water at the place I live is from a well. It might have pesticides and chemicals used by farmers so I filter ALL of my water with a big, tall Brita. I used to have a PuR on my faucet but it kept getting limed up and leaked so I switched to the kind I pour into a large pitcher. It works great and costs about 5 cents a gallon. Compare that to your bottled water and you will see a big cost difference!!!

If you should drink water straight from the tap depends on how good the water quality is where you live. This does not mean that bottled water is better. There is no regulation on bottled water so some bottled water is the same quality as tap water. You are better off using a water filter. Another thing to note: Purer water is not always better for you. Completely pure water is actually harmful to you body because it upsets the electrolyte balance in your cells. Water that has a little bit of calcium or sodium in it (like tap water) is better for you.
Spring water doesn't have the chemicals and stuff, but they won't hurt you. We encounter them everyday anyway. It's not like it's unsafe.
Tap water has a lot of things including flouride which is very good for your teeth.
I think it comes down to taste. Drink both!
I never drink tap water. I've heard that these water companies really don't filter the water as well as they claim, but to me, it's comforting to THINK that they do. God only knows what's in the city water!
