Smoothies in bottles?!

Question:

Smoothies in bottles?

I love making smoothies and would like to put them in plastic bottles to take with me when I go camping. I have a cooler to put the smoothie in to keep it cool. Whenever I make smoothies after about half a day they tend to separate in juice down the bottom and all the rest of the ingredients (I usually make them with yoghurt, different fruits and juice) above and also the smoothie even if kept in the fridge loses its slushy texture.

If I put them into a bottle the same thing happens and it also loses some of its texture (i.e. its not that frozen slushy texture you usually have when you first make the smoothie) .

How can I stop the separation from occurring. Do I need to put in some preservatives (natural preservatives) and how can I stop the smoothie from losing some of its texture.

Thanks for your help.

Can you break up the frozen fruit in a blender and keep that in a separate container from the milk or soy milk that you use? The ice crystals are collecting and exchanging heat from the milk to even out the temperature. It is trying to achieve equilibrium. It will still do this in the ice chest separately, but maybe at a slower pace. But it will not be as handy.Maybe use orange juice bottles or grape juice bottles...they have larger openings or a thermos bottle..HEY!! I think that is it? Use a THERMOS BOTTLE in the ice chest??? Chill the inside of the bottle first with ice water, so it will be cold inside..

Well, I may be wrong about separation of ingredients...the fruit may slightly melt and then refreeze into a hard chunk and that would not be good.

you have to keep it at that near freezing temperature to preserve the texture properly. the only to stop the separation would be to blend it all till it's uniform and that probably would still not prevent it or to add some sort of emulsifying agent. it would probably be easier to vigorously shake the bottles to mix it back up
