Tap, if you live somewhere where its safe. Remember that there are millions of people who do not have access to safe drinking water, and are dying. Be grateful for the opportunity to turn on a tap in your own home, when so many are even unable to get to a well.

You can boil the tap water, let it cool and refrigerate to rid possible impurities.

It depends on the pipes that are delivering the tap water - sometimes tap water is gross. If it's good tap water then I'm happy to drink that rather than spend money on a bottle of mineral water.

neither. Mineral water contains synthetic additives, and tap water can pick up parasites and metal residues from the pipes it goes through, as well as containing harsh chemicals and chlorine. Bottled water marked "purified" or "enhanced" is nothing more than tap water. Spring or steam distilled water is best.

The fact of the matter is that most bottled water is just tap water from a different location.
I often get a chuckle out of the fact that people whine about the cost of gasoline but won't bat an eye at paying $1.50 for a small bottle of water.
Commercial water filters do a pretty good job of removing any impurities that the municipal water treatment plant might miss.
