There is no "The"
It would simply be Smith Family or OHANA

The Smith 'Ohana translates to "Ka 'ohana 'o Smith"

Ka 'elepani means "the elephant".
The dogs is translated as "na 'ilio"

and then if then if the noun begins with an "a" without an 'okina (diacritical mark)... and please note that there are many exceptions to this rule!
Ke aloha translates to "the love"
Ka 'awa translates to "the 'awa"
