Do you think that bottled water tastes different from regular tap water?!

Question:

Do you think that bottled water tastes different from regular tap water?

A bunch of guys at work said that bottled water in no different than regular tap water. I was rolling my eyes because i think their is a difference. The Hinckley water in my water cooler is much smoother than what comes out of the tap. The tap water seems to be more hard i think. What do you think?

Answers:
Yes bottle is filtered at the company and tap is just hard coming out of your tap!

Source(s):
I drink WATER!

I think it tastes different as well.

The water in our neighborhood is from a well, it tastes terrible! yes, bottled water is filtered.

I do, I won't touch tap water, and I only drink distilled, or purified water, not mountain water, or spring water.

Your co-workers are 100% correct. 99.9% of the time it is just re filtered tap water and here in Canada there has been research with some of the major companies (i.e. Pepsi) that the water is actually worse than tap water. It has been proven but yet I still drink it because of the covinience. I will probably try to go back to tap and stop wasting money and creating unessceary waste. The water bottling industry is also minimally regulated.

i did see on the news that they tested a bunch of them and alot of them were just regular tap water

I prefer tap water. The EPA regulates it. I don't think anyone regulates bottled water.

Of course there's a difference, but that doesn't mean one's bad and ones good. They could both be bad or they could both be good; they're just different. Some people can taste the difference but have no preference, while others have a definite preference. It's just a matter of what you like. The shame is when people decide one's good or bad just because they're told it is. Make up your own mind.

I prefer the tap water, myself, over the bottled stuff. The bottled stuff is far too bland -- no character to it at all.

Yep there's a difference.

I think that bottled water not only tastes better. You can actually see the cleaner smoother texture in bottled water. Tap water to me has a metalic taste to it. At leaast my tap water does.

I am fortunate enough to live at the foot of a natural aquifer and I have a dug well that is fed by it. So my answer is yes tap water taste different then bottled water because I drink fresh, natural water from my tap. Many companies bottle water and put a label on it but it is not from a natural source. It is processed water from a city that goes through a cleansing/purifying filter.Fact not fiction. Try figuring out where the source of the bottled water is, your friends would be surprised.

I agree with you. To me, bottled water has always tasted better than tap water. I don't care that I may just be paying for bottled tap water. I go for the taste. If my water has a funky taste to it, I won't drink it! Also, I get the water reports from my town (reports on such things as what are potential contaminents of the water--i.e. farm fields, factories, sewers, restaurants, an old slaughterhouse's property; what has been found in the water--i.e. lead; etc.) and just those alone make me not want to purposely drink the water!

It's noticeably different.

yeah my tap water is pretty good, but bottled water is better way better.
