Is it true Zero Coke Cola contains Cancer. If yes, what is it called?!

Question:

Is it true Zero Coke Cola contains Cancer. If yes, what is it called?

I'm 12 years old, please take it easy on me.

Answers:
I am a pediatrician. You are smart to question what you put into your body!

Coke Zero does not contain cancer. It does contain two artificial sweeteners instead of sugar: aspartame and acesulfame potassium (ace-k).

There is significant evidence showing that aspartame is carcinogenic when consumed heavily or over many years. More studies are needed to determine the safety of ace-k. Carcinogenic means that it can cause cancer.

The FDA says there is not enough aspartame in Coke Zero, Diet Coke, etc. (and dozens of other food items) to cause cancer. The reality is that aspartame (or any other carcinogenic substance) will effect individuals differently based on age, weight, genetic make-up and consumption. Some will never have a problem, some will. We will know we fall into the latter category after it is too late.

At age 12 your body is going through some of the most major physiological changes you will ever have. It is of the utmost importance that you feed your cells the healthiest diet of antioxidant fruits, vegetables and water right now.

We all know soft drinks are bad for us, so I'm sure you aren't drinking them very much. It might be wise to play it safe and just drink regular Coke if you have a craving. The extra calories are better than the artificial sweeteners. If you are overweight, you really should never drink sodas. The health complications from the excess weight, even at age 12, are not worth the risk.

I hope this makes some sense and good luck!

FDA is not going to let coke sale something that contains cancer

Cancer is the mutation of cells and can be caused by various stuff but isn't contained in anything. Coke doesn't cause cancer sweetie.

No, it is not true. Cancer is when cells go wrong and make bad screwed up copies of themselves. It is not an ingredient in anything that you could buy. If you mean does it contain something that can CAUSE Cancer, then the answer is no. At least it is as far as anyone knows, there is nothing in the product that can cause cancer when ingested in amounts several times that which anyone could ever consume. But sometimes we find out something we thought safe isn't. Right now the product is considered safe and in my opinion always will be. Hope this helps.

no but at your age, you should be drinking a 100% juice as your body is still growing and needs nurishment
