Can you get listeriosis from spoiled milk?!

Question:

Can you get listeriosis from spoiled milk?

We had to move our milk to a new refridgerator that was not completely cool b/c our old one died. This must have shortened the life on the milk. Yesterday I drank about 3/4 glass before I noticed it was kind of sour. Could this cause listeriosis? I am 34 weeks pregnant so that is the disease I am the MOST concerned about. TIA!

Answers:
From my food safety class several years ago, I thought listeriosis came from bad seafood. But I am not a doctor, so give your nurse desk at your clinic a call just to ease your fears.

Listeria needs to be introduced into the milk supply. It does not naturally occur. It does ,however, thrive once introduced! And it can be in milk! But you are way more likely to get worms. If it was listeria, you would have felt the effects by now, because listeria is active in unspoiled milk, long before it goes "bad". The symptoms are just like E. Coli but way worse. You and the baby are fine, as far as the milk goes.

no i think it comes from bad seafood
