Is it safe to buy seaweed from an asian food store?!

Question:

Is it safe to buy seaweed from an asian food store?

I have been hearing on the news that a lot of products from china weere contaminated such as fish. Is Japanese seaweed safer to consume than chinese because of the stricter regulations on polution. It is cheaper than in the organic section of a grocery store.

Answers: It depends on what kind of seaweed you are looking for. It is generally safe to eat but you probably best cook it through etc...If you are looking for the dry crispy kind, go for the korean packages(around 8-10$) Wet seaweed is supposed to be safe, but ask the store guy to help you look for a name brand. I agree... I would think Japanese seaweed is safer than any food stuff from China.
