It was a miniture something, and it was not a service dog. The woman who had it carried it and she was a healthy 20 something against all health code laws. unless it is a guide dog. any store that allows it should be reported. even the little pocket dogs If it is a seeing eye dog --- none. I'm not sure it's a health violation unless he's licking and poo'ing on the food. Dogs trained for the vision impaired people are permitted into all public places including grocery stores, restaurants, and offices none!! what is wrng in that.. as long as the owner pays for any meats teh dog eats or picks its all ok... I don't think it should be a violation. If people are willing to eat a bloody, bacteria-infested animal, then they should be willing to let a dog in the grocery store. If it not urination or having bowel movements on the floor, then the dog should be allowed in the store, in my opinion, as long as it's not dirty. ESPECIALLY if it's a seeing-eye dog for the blind. I don't know about health codes.. but I don't want anyones animal around my food. Just because it's a cute little family member to some... to me.. it's gross. Unless it's a service dog, they are needed.. and trained for what they do. I also don't eat at peoples homes that let cats run a muck all over the countertops and such.. for the same reason. You are only allowed to have seeing eye dogs in food stores (for the blind) The only animals allowed in a grocery store are those for the legally blind. Although I love animals it does not make sense that they should be allowed in a grocery store. Just picture a grocery store if everyone brought there pets inside... that would be gross and unsanitary. One little dog would be one thing as mentioned in one of the answers above, BUT that is not what would happen here. And we certainly couldn't discriminate and just allow dogs. So that means all kinds of animals - strange or not - would be hangin' out in grocery stores. Personally, I don't want a giraffe looking over my shoulder while I am trying to decide on dinner. (LOL)
If it's okay in stores then it needs to be okay to bring pets into restaurants, hospitals, doctors offices ... see where I am going? It would just be total chaos. Although some may think animals are clearner than humans ... I beg to differ. Perhaps some humans ... but anything that can lick it's own butt or eats dead things off the ground should not be anywhere near human food ... period! Not in my book anyways ... Noone should bring a dog into any esablishment unless it is medically necessary. What if everyone did it? what a mess that would be. People would be tripping over leashes not to mention what would happen if a dog bites! People should use commom courtesy. OMG!! I HATE it when people bring their dogs into the grocery store!!!!! What is up with that??? Can't people just leave their dogs at home for like a half an hour while they are shopping! (Unless of course it is a guide dog) I think it is VERY disrespectful to customers who are trying to shop and get the items they need from the grocery store when people are bringing their dogs in, like it is some sort of zoo, animal shelter, or animal show-and-tell !!!! Another HUGE problem with dogs being in grocery stores is that dogs often try to eat samples from the bakery (cookie, donuts, cake, etc.) and these foods are not healthy at all, under any circumstance for dogs and animals to be eating!!! Plus, some people do not even put their dogs on leashes!!! This is terrible, letting dogs wander around the store freely can cause chaos and MAJOR clean ups for the employees when the dogs made the big mess in the first place! Big dogs may even frighten the younger children and babies of many parents when they chase kids, bark loudly, and lick their legs!!! I am talking about some HUGE health code violations here!!!!!!! Not to mention how this is SOOO rude and obnoxious to the people working at the grocery store because they have to bag that person's groceries and deal with the dog peeing and pooing next to their feet, or even worse, jumping and licking the workers' hand!!! This is a major health violation and all grocery stores and shopping malls/centers should ban dogs from being in the public areas!!!!!!!!! Doesn't matter the size, it's still a health violation. People need to realize that their dogs aren't people and need to stay home.
