Answers: Malt: a drink product that is primarily dairy-based and includes a special product called Malted Milk. It's the stuff inside Whoppers candy. Kind of a powder and it gives it a unique taste and texture.

Shake: a drink product that is also primarily dairy-based. It has no Malted Milk and often has ice cream as it's main ingredient.

Smoothie: a drink product that is primarily fruit-based. Ice is also a main component. Usually contains no dairy though it can be added. A shake is made with ice cream for a thickener.
A Malt is the same as a shake only malt is added.
A smooth would be the healthiest choice and is made with ice and fruit for the most part. You do have to watch the added sugar though. the primary difference is the ingredients list. malts include (you guessed it...) malt. shakes are usually ice-cream or dairy based, smoothies include fruits as their main components. all involve blending a dairy product milk (for malts), ice-cream (for shakes) or yogurt (for smoothies) with ice and a flavoring agent. the healthfulness depends on the ingredients used. an orange smoothie made with sherbet, honey, sugar and full fat yogurt is far less healthy than a chocolate milk shake made with skim milk and oval-tine. And most portions are out of control. An 8 oz smoothie is healthful, a 24 oz smoothie is like eating 3 packs of skittles.

Make it at home with low fat yogurt, fruit of your choice, OJ and honey. Experiment with what tastes best!
