How long will unrefrigerated eggs stay good?
Our refrigerator just died on us; we've bought a replacement, but it won't be delivered until probably Friday. We're tossing everything perishable in the fridge, but I was wondering about eggs; I've heard that some people leave them unrefrigerated for a time. Does anyone know if our eggs will survive until Friday? Thanks!
Answers: You can always float them. If you are ever concerned about eggs being good you can gently place them in a container of water. If they sink they are good. If they float up to the top, toss them. They are spoiled. If they are kind of boyiant but still on the bottom they are still good, just older. These eggs boil up and peel perfectly since they membrane seperates more easily.
I've left eggs out for a day and night not realizing it and they were fine. Just hand on to them and give them a little bath to see if they sink or float. What I've been told is that if they have never been refrigerated they would be okay. But once they have been they need to be kept that way. Omelettes for dinner anyone??? LOL Actually I hate it when those kind of things happen. Eggs will last probably a week or more in a cool place. Until Friday should be fine. Remember in the olden days when refrigerators didn't even exist, let alone a designated cooling place? People would snatch the eggs and leave them as they were for periods at time.
So three days will be OK for your eggs. if they haddent been refridgerated they would have lasted.when you buy them from the supermarket they are not in the fridge so i don't know why people think they have to go in there.
