Answers: i'll take some of each i lov potato it so so yummy roasties def!! ooohh so difficult im going with roasted.............as long as they are crispy... mash not sure, i just now that i like the ones at the Renaissance festival where they cut the potato in half and drown the middle in butter and cheese and sour cream. Mmm, so good! makes me gain like fifty pounds, but still worth it! lol roasted potatos with butter, salt and rosemary dipped in ketchup or mashed potatoes with gravy :) yum! mmmm, both are good, but using some spices makes either of them great.
I vote for whatever is easiest for you to make. People love potatos, and spiced right can make the dish for you. What are you serving it with, can I ask?
With steaks or chickens, use roasted potatoes, seasoned with the same herbs you flavor the meat with.
With pastas or casseroles, use mashed potatoes seasoned with spices that accent the main dish.
I'm sure if it is just for guests, they won't notice, but hoping that you are a true conneseiur, it makes a difference to you.
Roast or mash, depends on what you are serving for dinner...... roast :) mash mine please Hard Choice... Mashed with Onion in it.. And Gravy :) they are both so good...with mash its a must have gravy.but my fav. is roast.. roast potato with roast lamb

It depends on what youre having them with,if its corned beef definitely mashed if its roast beef roast potatoes. well,,,,,,,, if you cant use them for the potato cannon, I would mash them and mix in a can of cambles Cheddar cheese soup Roast Gosh, I'd go with mashed as they taste heavenly with melted butter. Make a mash potato but add some spices that you like...
Chilly, Garlic, Curry or even parsley...
Obviously you will need a bit of butter too, but when you add some Bicarbonate of soda, or baking powder, the mash becomes fluffy and light.
Now for the real reason for making mash...
The next day, use the left over mash to make burger patties from when mixed with minced meat, or make potato fritters from it by adding an egg and a bit of milk and forming them in to wheels, or use the left over mash to add to your steak sauce and so on...
It becomes a thickening agent which you will never be able to do with roast potatoes. Rosemary roasted redskin potatoes with a little bit of garlic butter or olive oil and sprinkled cheese YUMM
