Are really ripe tomatoes ok to eat?!

Question:

Are really ripe tomatoes ok to eat?

I bought tomatoes they were already red and squishy meaning i guess really ripe, now it's even more squishy, is it safe to still eat it?

Answers: Safe. You will enjoy it much more if you purchase a not-so-ripe next time! The mush means its on its last leg. Great for puree but for salads and stuff you won't be able to cut them. Make sure it is cleaned really well too and check the inside for bugs. Safe - yes, as long as there is no mold, etc. - no odd smell!

Makes a great sauce - rich and sweet. Should be! as long as they are not moldy yet. I always take the squishy ones, do a rough chop, then put them in a zip lock bag, then freeze them. When I have pasta I just add the frozen tomatoes to the sauce. Tomatoes are too expensive to throw out.
