Best way to baste a Turkey without a Turkey baster?
I tried using a pipeing bag but it was very messy.
Answers: Bake it upside down with the breast at the bottom. Then all the juices flow to that dried out breast meat. You can pull the rack out of the oven and use a spoon or a small ladel, but its harder than a baster. i usually just use a ladle... The best way is to start at the cavity. Carefully, separate the skin from the flesh using your fingertips. Work your fingers up, separating the skin as you go. Once you've done that, take pats of butter and smear it them between the skin and the flesh. You can also add herbs to the butter. I generally use a large spoon, but you can also use a cheap (new) paintbrush. I also agree with the person who bakes his turkey upside down. I do that with chicken and turkey, (baking it covered) then flip it over and cook it uncovered at the end to brown the skin. If you look around stores that sell mid to high end pots and pans, you can find a ''juice injecter'', this looks like a large hyperdermic needle,(they're about 8 to 10 in. long from end to end and you draw up the juices in it and stick it in the turkey and inject the juices back into it, I use one and it works real good. They sell turkey bags... you put the turkey in the bag (follow the instructions on the box) and it bastes it for you... I've used them it works.... you could use a squirt bottle. Good Luck are you the real christopher walken?
