Have you ever ate buffalo ? do you know where I order some?!

Question:

Have you ever ate buffalo ? do you know where I order some?

Answers: Yes! We have had buffalo burgers and brisket. DELICIOUS! It's does not have a game-y taste like you'd think. It's very good and has a great flavor. I have eaten it at local restaurants here in Houston (Texas) and in Galveston (Texas) which is where I first tried it.

I have purchased ground buffalo meat from Whole Foods Markets (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/)... I am not sure wher you live but you can search if there is one near you. Source(s):
http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/... (grocer) Yes, actually I have had a buffalo burger. They are actually quite delicious. They sell them at supermarkets like Trader Joes in Merrick. I suggest that you do buy some, because they are extremly delicious! I worked in a restaurant in Western Kansas that sold Buffalo Burgers but I could never eat one. It just didn't seem right somehow. I think you could Google" Buffalo Meat" and probably get a mail order site. you can get one at ruby tuesdays i believe and there are some small resturants that sell them- call around or order them online I ate a buffalo burger once. The flavor was not too powerful and overwhelming like I thought it would be. It also is a richer tasting meat than beef. I thought the buffalo burger was too dry may have been the way it was prepared. I like my burgers juicy and the meat not overcooked.

Had a good flavor but, I am still partial to beef.

I have also had buffalo jerky. That was good. And a sliced buffalo sandwich at a Cabela's sporting good store (I think). Very good.

You can go online to Grand Premium meats to order all kinds of meat.

Or Arrowhead Buffalo Meats

And check out Jackson Hole Buffalo Meat

Hope that helps. Order some and have fun cooking and serving it. I think most of these sites offer cooking tips as well. I had buffalo steaks that I bought at my regular grocery store (Wegmans) and I didn't like it too much. It may have been my fault for overcooking it or whatever but it was really, really chewy. It reminded me of cubed steak (cube steak, cubesteak? I don't know if I'm typing it right, I've never actually bought it for myself)

There's some good places to buy it online, just froogle "buffalo meat" and a whole bunch of sites will pop up. The only problem with buying it online is the shipping- they have to send it on dry ice which often makes the shipping cost as much or more than the meat you want.

Go to the largest grocery store in your area and talk to the guys in the meat dept. If they don't have it in stock they may be able to special order it for you. Items like buffalo meat are becoming more available and common than the used to be. Yes, its pretty close to beef, but richer and leaner. Many meat markets and higher end grocery stores sell it, or may be able to order it for you. Otherwise, just google it and you should find several firms that will ship it to you (pricey-er that way tho) I haven't tried it, but I've seen it in the meat department at WalMart. Yes i have, we went to a buffalo ranch in like...West MN where they sold it. Buffalo meat is excellent. It's a lot like beef, but leaner.

For ordering some, the best place to check might be the meat department at your local grocery store. If they don't carry it, they might know who does. OR they might start carrying it or special-order it for you. It's worth a try! Buffalo is extremely healthy, lean, tasty and better for you! You can buy buffalo burgers at Trader Joe's if you've one nearby. Also, you can find buffalo at gourmet butchers...or research online.
Buffalo steaks (I tried buffalo porterhouse) are tender, juicy and have a slightly sweet flavor. (sweet in the way lamb has a sweetness)
I am sensitive to the fats in beef; buffalo being leaner is much easier to digest. The HOUSE raises buffalo, but I don't think you can buy it in public stores.
