Answers: Privet Ivan,
Im from Ukraine but I have been in US for few years now...
well to answer your question..
bread ~ 2$
potatoes ~ not sure...but they pretty cheap
strawberry~ $2.50 or $ 3 for 1/2 kilo
milk ~ $ 3 Cities more than small towns; some states MUCH cheaper than large ones.
Try an online grocery ad for a feeling:
www.kroger.com in central illinois...
bread~ generic .99 loaf... good 1.50+ a loaf
potato~ 2.50 for a 5lb bag
strawberry~ expensive when not in season... right now 2.50 a container... pint i think
milk ~2.28 a gallon
hamburger 2.50 a lb
gasonline 2.98 gallon A great way to find out the typical cost of groceries is to check on the webiste of grocery delivery places, like peapod http://www.peapod.com/site_frameset.jhtm... They deliver just about anything so you can check the prices for whaever you specifically want- Giant Grocery store is a bit pricier than some, you should expect actual prices to be just a bit less. I know a loaf of store brand white bread is $1.99, but sometimes I can get the two-for-one. Milk is expensive, about $4.29 for the store brand. A 10 pound bag of russet potatoes is about $3.99. Can't speak for the strawberry.
Try www.safeway.com, that's where we usually shop. (California) I live in the southern part of the United States. Our state is generally considered lower in cost to live.
Bread-$1.25 to 2.00
Potato- 5 lb. bag $2.88
Pint of Strawberries- $3.50
Gallon of Milk- $2.50
Hamburger meat per lb. $1.20 to $2.30
Dozen Eggs-1.00
