How do ypu fry potatoes in a skillet and they don't stick and burn?!

Question:

How do ypu fry potatoes in a skillet and they don't stick and burn?

Answers:

Well when my mom makes pan fries or hash browns she adds margarine(or butter if you prefer) to the pan and then adds her potatoes, puts lid over top(stir every min or so that they don't stick) and then they cook, mmm good too... :)

My mom says cooking in oil is not that tasty for frying up potatoes unless there french fries otherwise they should be fried in a pan(skillet) with margarine(or butter if you like), margarine(or butter) gives it more flavour and is not as greasy as with cooking it in oil.
