What is up with bird's nest soup?!

Question:

What is up with bird's nest soup?

How can anyone make soup out of it.....I would think in a birds nest there is bird poop and mites and feathers....horrible!

Answers:

The birds nest that are used for the soup are from Southeast Asia. The nest are from a bird like a Swift or Swallow. The bird builds the nest on the high walls of cliff caves. The nest is made entirely from a saliva like material that the bird spits out and is allowed to harden into cup shaped nest stuck to the side of the cave wall. The people who harvest the nest climb very tall ladders and risk their life getting the nest. This is why the cost is so very high. The nest is washed and sold to soup makers.
