Help with grilling strip steaks?!

Question:

Help with grilling strip steaks?

I have a new grill with a searer. I have a 1 pound strip steak, but i dont know how long to leave it on the searer, before i move it to the main burner.

Answers:

You should leave it on the searer for about two to five minutes, each side. This will allow the inner juices to come to the surface and once that occurs, then move it to the main burner. If it is just a one pound steak, I would allow it to cook for about 10 to 15 minutes, no longer than 20 minutes. This of course depends on the heat; if higher then less time for it to cook. Watch carefully for it not to burn. Try to cut in to it at half the time you think it should cook and see how the color is on the inside. That way you can judge to see how "well done" you wish to eat at a particular cooking level. Enjoy!
