Why do people who eat in pubs always try to take hot plates out of your hand after you have told them it's hot
I have worked for years in the hospitality industry and it happens almost every time. You say mind the plates they are hot and the first thing they do is try to grab them out of your hand. Why is this - does anyone know???

And just so people are aware Iam usually holding the very hot plates with a serving cloth, so it is reasonable that they should not assume that because I am holding them they can pick them up

And for those very stupid people who have answered about what should they do with them. Generally where I have eaten you put the plates on the table not hold them in the air. So they should just not try to take them off you and let you put them down

I do not now. Sometimes I think it is a masochistic thing. Perhaps you should turn masochistic and indulge them. Or perhaps it is a sort of masculine thing. Ha, this thing is hot, but I am made of asbestos. I'll show em ....... aaaaa hhhoootttt!!! Crash.
Or they are too busy talking to listen to what you are saying. Either way, do not blame yourself. It is not your fault.
