My aunt gives my son baking chocolate? ?!

My aunt gives my son baking chocolate? ?

My neighbor has been watching my son during the day, for the past week and i found out today that she gives him pieces of semi-sweet baking chocolate for a treat, is this ok? she says its better for him than, a regular candy bar, is this true?

My son is 7, and she gives him 1 square each day, which i think each square is 1oz?

Yes, it IS true ... semi-sweet is DARK chocolate with lots less sugar than 'milk chocolate' ... and as a 'baking ingredient' is actually lots less expensive than any 'name brand' candy or candy store candy. THANK your neighbor for giving your son a much HEALTHIER treat ... dark chocolate is also much higher in 'antioxidants' which we all need more of. But please tell her to give him only the equivalent of 'on Hershey's kiss' (one bite) a day.
