Is it okay to eat lettuce with brown edges?

I just openned a package of lettuce 2 days ago. It doesnt expire until 5 days from now, but since it's been openned in the fridge it's gotten brown edges on some of the pieces. Is this safe to eat??

yeah, it doesn't hurt you. When I buy those bagged salads, I usually wash them, pat dry, and put it in a bowl with plastic wrap. You'd be surprised how much longer it lasts. BTW, I read an article in the Wall St Journal about how you should still wash the bagged salad even though it says, "Washed and ready to eat!"
