Canola oil seems to give brownies a funny smell and taste. Is this typical or is something wrong with my oil?!

Question:

Canola oil seems to give brownies a funny smell and taste. Is this typical or is something wrong with my oil?

Answers:

Canola oil is used mostly for it's lightness in flavor, and had a delicate fragrance as well

The oil is possibly tainted. Once it is opened it should be stored in a cool dark place
there is research that argues that canola oil does taint in shorter time than other vegetable oil mediums and not reccomended for cooking at temp over 300 degree F due to the fact this releases toxins
