It sounds like you are trying to lose weight. The trick is to take in a balanced amount of each food so that your own body's metabolism will work properly.
BREAKFAST
1 oz. of protein (2 tbsp. peanut butter OR 1 egg Or 2 slices of
bacon)
1 tbsp. fat such as butter (skip if you are eating peanut butter)
3/4 cup carbohydrates
1/2 fruit
4 oz. 1% or 2% milk
So a sample breakfast might be a bowl of cereal with 1/2 sliced banana and milk, or an egg with 1 tblsp. margerine on wheat toast and 1/2 orange. Don't forget the glass of milk. Have a small snack between breakfast and lunch, such as a corn muffin or a pkg of nabs.
LUNCH
2 oz. protein
1/2 cup vegetable
1 "free" vegetable
1 tbsp. fat
1 fruit
4 oz. of 1% or 2% milk
You could have a half of a tuna salad pita pocket made with 1 tbsp. of light mayo, all the sliced cucumbers you want, and maybe put sliced tomato on your tuna salad. Eat a small apple. Drink your milk. Or you can have an egg salad sandwich or sliced chicken on wheat bread with 1 tblsp mayo, celery sticks and raw carrots. Have an orange and your milk. (If you like tea, have your milk in tea. Have a snack between lunch and supper such as 6 graham crackers or 6 saltines with peanut butter and 4 oz. of milk.
SUPPER
4 oz. meat
1 vegetable
1 "free vegetable
1 tblsp. fat
1 fruit
flavored water
You might try 4 oz. of steak with mushrooms, 3/4 cup mashed potatos with 1 tblsp. butter, broccoli, all you can eat, 1/2 of cooked carrots and crystal light, or 4 oz. roasted chicken, with 1/2 baked sweet potato, as much spinach as you desire, and 1/2 cup of carrots. For dessert have jello or 3/4 cup of canned fruit cocktail. you can have flavored water or crystal light. For a bedtime snack you could eat 3 cups of unbuttered popcorn or 15 corn chips with 6 oz. of 1 or 2% milk.
The diet is designed for healthy, well balanced eating and to keep you full at all times so you must eat Everything on your plate, but don't drink in between times or you will not be able to do this correctly. At first you will think OMG this is too much food, but it isn't. You are getting the correct amount of calories without the weight gain. If you don't have a scale for the meat you might want to ask the guy at the deli counter of your favorite store to show you what 4 oz. of steak or chicken looks like. Good Luck Carolsandytoes1
