So a rapeseed is just some seed grown in Canada?

Answers:

There is no such thing as a "canola" it is an oil made from pressing rape seeds (notice I said rape not grape).

Obviously it would be rather hard to market something with the word "rape" in it.

It just so happens that they grow a lot of rape seed in Canada hence the term "Canola" from "Canada".
